Roughly half of adults in the US have hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure. Defined as having a systolic pressure of 130 or higher or a diastolic pressure of 80 or higher, high blood pressure drives small vessel disease, a major risk factor for a host of health problems, including cardiovascular disease, dementia, kidney problems, and stroke. But high blood pressure is also easily modifiable with lifestyle – a low-hanging fruit that can play a huge role in lowering disease risk. By actively adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors, you have the power to positively influence your blood pressure levels. In this Aliquot, Drs.
