Dear Rhonda, On this episode you were very interested on what happens to microbiome after fasting for so long (20 days or more). I remember you were even wondering what would happen with microbiome for a 7 day water only fast or even for the 5 days FMD of Longo. I have been also very curious but it is still a bit difficult to find info about it. Have you find any?

In the meantime, I have become a regular 5to7days water only faster. I do this 3 to 4 times a year together with a previous 5to7 weeks of well formulated ketogenic diet. The only thing I have to say about this is that I feel much more better in all aspects with respect to my gut. I have not measured any time my microbiome, but I know how I feel. So this can’t be bad for me if I’m feeling so more comfortable and pretty much fartless the whole year long. Even when I’m not on keto or fasting. During regular regime, food is balanced healthy food, omnivore and 12 hrs time restricted eating.

Anyways, now I think I know what happens to microbiome when water fasting: sporulation! Bacteria in the gut do not die, but sporulate and wait for the food to come again on refeeding. Then, grow again. I got this idea after coming across with the info about the spore based-probiotics, which seem to be very effective. What do you think?

Thanks a lot for your efforts and sharing your knowledge. I will always be thankful to you for changing my life after I first listened your info about broccolli sprouts.
