A rejuvenation factor has been identified in young blood cells that is able to speed up fracture repair and lead to bone formation.

This “youth factor” is called LRP1 and is produced by a type of blood cell called macrophages. This study showed that LRP1 isolated from blood cells from young mice and injected into a fracture in old mice rejuvenates the pace of repair.
