Skin cells that are reprogrammed into neurons that produce dopamine will be transplanted into the brains of people with Parkinson’s disease in a new trial in Japan. People with Parkinson’s lose dopamine-producing neurons which are involved in motor skills.

Last year this technique was shown to improve disease severity in monkeys with a disease that is similar to Parkinson’s disease.
