I’m an overweight software developer trying to understand my own Biology - Hopefully someone can help me interpret this? First off: i understand correlation-not-causation, so you don’t need to teach me that.
significant (P < .03) positive association between 25(OH)D and apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I) and lipoprotein A-I (Lp A-I).
My Translation: Vitamin D and these lipoproteins were positively correlated.
The ratio of low-density lipoprotein to high-density lipoprotein was significantly (P ≤ .044) negatively correlated with 25(OH)D levels.
Translation: the more vitamin D there was, the lower we found (LDL / HDL) to be. Since high LDL is bad, and high HDL is neutral, minimizing the ratio is probably good. hence this looks good.
25(OH)D increased significantly in the treated compared with control group (P < .05)
We can say that exposing yourself to UVA and UVB increases Vitamin D w/ statistical signifance
there were no significant differences between the treated and control groups in any lipoproteins or apolipoproteins after administration of UV irradiation.
No evidence UVA and UVB change these protein levels.
In short: UV light (like I might find at a tanning salon??) increases Vitamin D, but doesn’t change these protein profiles. Though I don’t know why these proteins matter.
{ googling }
Wiki tells me that Apolipoprotein-A1 is what makes up HDL and that it is responsible for getting the fat not only out of my cells, but also out through my Liver!. So my naive interpretation is: if I want to lose fat, I definitely want lots of Apolipoprotein-A1 lying around.
I couldn’t find lipoprotein A-I (Lp A-I) or what the difference between the two is.
So the open question is: how do we increase Apolipoprotein-A1 ?
Thanks for looking to reach out! I try to reply to every single email I get (really!), but sometimes it takes a little while or some messages just fall through the cracks, usually by accident.

How’d I do?
Aerobic exercise is one of the best ways to increase Apolipoprotein-A1. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4443300/
this is great
