@trekowsk You can distinction between: - Saturated (SFA) - Monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA)
Omega-3s (and -6s & -9s) are types of unsaturated fats, where omega-3 is a polyunsaturated one (PUFA), where the 3 in the name (Omega-3) refers to how far it’s located from the end of the fatty acid ( (the end is named the ω aka omega)!
Interestingly, PI3K/AKT/FOXO seem to relevant in development/susceptibility of both acne and depression, this may explain part of the link. Isotretinoin also seem to exert some of it’s effects on this pathway.
