Vitamin D extended lifespan by reducing the age-dependent formation of insoluble proteins.Proteins misfold and aggregate with age as a consequence of irreversible oxidation, nitration, and carbonylation of proteins, which impairs degradation of damaged proteins, and enhances aggregation. Aggregated proteins play a role in cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. I talk more about the relationship between vitamin D and human aging in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc815fQn8iY I also elaborate on vitamin D supplementation, dose, bioavailability, and more in this short audio-only podcast: http://traffic.libsyn.com/foundmyfitness/vit_d_faq_1.mp3
