Researchers have discovered that fibroblasts, which normally give rise to scar tissue after a heart attack, can be turned into endothelial cells, which generate blood vessels to supply oxygen and nutrients to the injured regions of the heart, greatly reducing the damage done following heart attack.

This is very dear to my heart (pun intended). I had valve surgery and the valve is fine, but scarring has caused most of my post-op heart issues. Including putting pressure on the new valve. I’m very keen to understand the current state of art reducing heart scaring. This is also a pressing issue for me given my likelihood of another operation very soon because the scaring pressuring the valve. Any help, research, hospitals, and so forth performing heart scar reducing procedures would be most welcome.
